The project

Sustainable and Scalable Business Model
How does it works

Economically Self-Sustaining

The Pasta Project is designed to be self-sustaining, with a clear goal of reinvesting profits to establish additional production units. This model allows us to continuously grow and scale, ensuring long-term sustainability. We aim to expand our reach by partnering with other organizations and non-profits in the region, which will enable us to empower even more communities, create job opportunities, and strengthen local economies.

Production Capacity

With a team of trained, skilled workers, we can produce approximately 1000 kg of high-end fresh pasta per month, including products like tagliatelle, ravioli, and tortellini. This pasta will be distributed to: Distributors, Local shops, Restaurants and resorts.

Competitive Pricing

Our prices are highly competitive, especially when compared to supermarket offerings. This pricing strategy ensures sustained interest from our partners in the food industry.

Reducing Food Waste

We also benefit from food donations from local supermarkets and shops. These donations help us reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and support the use of locally sourced ingredients in our pasta production.

Our Needs

To set up and successfully run the project, we require the following support:
  • Premises: We need two rooms of approximately 25 sqm to set up as a pasta-making laboratory and storage for fresh pasta.
  • Production Supervisor: Assistance in identifying a reliable supervisor to oversee production.
  • Underprivileged Workers: Help in finding 2-4 underprivileged individuals to train and employ in pasta-making.

What we offer

In return, we offer:
  • Fair Compensation: A salary or other compensation (e.g., high school scholarships for children) for the supervisor.
  • Support for Employees: A salary and possibly accommodation for the 2-4 homeless individuals trained and employed.
  • Equipment & Setup: We provide all necessary pasta-making equipment and cover the costs of refitting the premises.
  • Licensing & Insurance: We cover the cost of licenses and insurance required for the business.
  • Marketing & Business Support: We provide a recognizable brand, marketing materials, and assistance in establishing commercial partnerships.
  • Sales Opportunities: Potential to sell from own premises (e.g., café, shop, or food truck).

  • Other equipment (250,000 ZAR)

Training & Expertise

To ensure the success of each new unit, we offer 4-8 weeks of training for new workers. Skilled teachers, who volunteer their time and expertise, will lead the training, helping new employees get up to speed with the production process.
